Thinking about our kitchen renovation felt somewhat like planning a journey with minimal knowledge and little sense of direction. We knew the destination but were unsure of what it would take to get there. After skimming books about renovation from the library, visiting show rooms, calling professionals and scratching our heads, we attended the fall Home Show. Peter Glaw was volunteering at the information booth. He listened to our list of questions and offered to come to our home. It became clear after his first visit that what he offered was unique.

Peter brings design ideas (his suggestion to move the stove opened up more counter space and more storage), demonstrates strong knowledge of construction parameters, has established good relationships with suppliers, ensures that all important paper work up to date, and sets a high standard for himself and those on his team. He honours the starting date and time-line and involves and informs at every stage. He is available during the day, evenings and on weekends too. We found him friendly and noticed that he demonstrated the same respect to his team members as he did to us.

We were introduced to Frank the kitchen cabinetmaker and felt confident after visiting his workshop. Frank and Peter came to our home a number of times to help us design and fine-tune the use of space. We especially appreciated Frank’s ability to design a number of special cupboards to help us stay organized.

We met Wacek and his son Michael once the project began. Their attention to detail, work ethic and talented artistry was remarkable to see. They cleaned as they worked, and every evening the workspace was left organized and tidy. Others who joined the team added expertise and provided a sense that the project was important and not just a job to complete. The sense of caring permeated all aspects of the renovation.

We are grateful for the ways we were guided on this journey and found it to be an interesting and worthwhile adventure!
